Everyone's Equal
The coaching dynamics collided in the decision of switching Pete from his original position to defense for the first time. Coach Boone thought Pete wasn't doing his job right and suggested to bench him to make the decision where to play him on the field. When the decision was made, both coaches were pleased to see Pete made an outstanding performance as a defensive half back knocking down most balls that were played. After the game Boone explained that he is equally harsh on all the players in the team where as Coach Bill Yoast babied the white players on the team.

I agree with top man38's views, but I think that you should have added more about how Pete was unwilling to move into a new position and the white coach needed to convince him to go.69
ReplyDeleteI think that Coach Yoast made a good decision with letting Pete play as a a defensive back. Coach Boone needs to be able to trust and support Coach Yoast decisions. The players are expected to work together and the coach's should have the same expectations. Coach Yoast wasn't necessarily "babying" Pete, he saw Pete's skills and knew that he could preform better as a defensive half back. Benching players isn't always the best idea.
ReplyDeleteShould have also added more on how Coach Boone thought Yoast undermind his authority by putting Pete on defence. An assistant coach should never challenge the authority of the head coach.
ReplyDeletethank you ladies
