Peer Pressure throughout the ages
After the team won a football game, the captain had the choice to either go with the girls to the "hill" and get drunk or stay with his friends from the team. This is an example of peer pressure. throughout the movie, peer pressure is a big topic considering that the blacks and the whites back in the 70's. The ethical choices he made adds another element of surprise and develops a stable relationship between the blacks and whites. Even Today, elements of peer pressure are still visible. Anywhere you look, peer pressure is running rampant. Ethically, the choices that people make when conformed with peer pressure are split decisions, and most of the time aren't the best ideas. So when the captain decides to stay with his teammates, he has made the right decision
Racial Differences
In Remember the Titans, the racial dilemma opens in a high-school football team, where "white" Americans are mixed with "blacks" African Americans, whom both loved the game but are seen differently by the other group. The coaches are forced to find ways to fade away the colors that stands between their victories. Denzel Washington, plays the offensive coach( coach Boone) and plays a huge role when it comes to the racial settlement.
The one way that was very effective was to room the opposite colors in rooms where they had to learn about the other and report everyday after dinner. This method was not effective at first because both race didn't give to much to this idea and thinking "they" would never understand but as time went by, enemies became friends, even brothers. In present day, this issue has slowly taken its course away from teens because of the awareness we have raised.

Everyone's Equal
The coaching dynamics collided in the decision of switching Pete from his original position to defense for the first time. Coach Boone thought Pete wasn't doing his job right and suggested to bench him to make the decision where to play him on the field. When the decision was made, both coaches were pleased to see Pete made an outstanding performance as a defensive half back knocking down most balls that were played. After the game Boone explained that he is equally harsh on all the players in the team where as Coach Bill Yoast babied the white players on the team.
Coach Boone's Decision
In Remember the Titans, Coach Boone does not let the players get a drink of water until the end of their practice. I do not agree with this decision because the players have already been at camp for 3 days and are already dehydrated, the consequences of this is that their performace will decrease along with intensity of training and or could casue injury. This is a personal choice that Coach Boone made probably because of his anger with the team at the time of the quality of practice. I do not think that this dilemma would occur as regulary today as it did back then becasue of the information on the consequesnces the Coachs today know could come of it.
Is It Worth It?
When the Titans were getting on the bus to go to camp, coach Boone made them all sit beside someone of a different race. He then said that whoever you were sitting beside was going to be your roommate. This created a lot of tension for everyone. Roommates argued over who got which bed and the type of posters they wanted to put on the wall. A fight even broke out among the two races at one point. Although at first coach Boone's decision might not have been the best for the individual but it really helped the team come together in the end. This dilemma wouldn't be as relevant today as it was in the early 70's because people have matured a lot since then and we have laws in place to protect people and encourage inclusive environments.
Personal VS Team Morals
In Remember The Titans, the team captain, Gary Bertier, faces an ethical dilemma when his best friend Ray purposely misses a block that leads to the injury of the quarterback, Rev. He has to choose between his friendship with Ray and what is right. He ultimately chooses what he thinks is right and has Ray cut from the team for putting another player at risk of an injury. We start to see the team turn to a more collective approach instead of everyone playing for themselves.

Ethics and Blogging
A dilemma is a situation in which a choice must be made between alternative courses of action or argument. Any difficult or perplexing situation or problem. Free Dictionary
In Remember the Titans, the characters face several dilemmas. To begin our discussion on the ethical issues that these characters are confronted with, each student will provide an example of a dilemma from the film and explain why you think this is an issue. Be sure to include specific details (who, why, what, etc.); and because this film is not set in present day, discuss why you think this same issue/dilemma would be relevant in present day.
